Mother: Julia QUINN (abt 1866 - 1910)

George's occupation was Labourer when he enlisted 28 April 1916 at Sydney and served with the 2nd Infantry Battalion A.I.F. He named his next of kin his father Esdras Giddy of Commandant Hill, Kempsey.

He departed Sydney on the 'Euripides' 9 September 1916 and arrived in France via England February 1917.

George's brother Private John James Giddy (b.1887 Camden) also served overseas arriving in France via Egypt June 1916. John was wounded in action (gunshot wound to thigh) France 20 July 1916. He returned to Australia on the 'Demosthenes' September 1917.

Private George Henry GIDDY was wounded in action (gunshot wound to back) in France on 9 April 1917. He died from his wounds at the 3rd Casualty Clearing Station on 10 April 1917 age 21.
